    The Métis Crossing Family Winter package includes two nights at The Lodge at Métis Crossing. The Lodge at Métis Crossing is a 40-room, boutique luxury lodge, located on historical Métis river lots. Overlooking the North Saskatchewan River, guests to the lodge will inevitably find themselves summoned by a sense of nostalgia and wonder about what came before.

Our Signature Experiences provide opportunities for unique experiences on the land at Métis Crossing, sharing Métis stories with visitors in an interactive way.     Visions, Hopes, and Dreams at Métis Crossing Wildlife Tour

    The Visions, Hopes and Dreams at Métis Crossing Wildlife Park offers guests a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the beauty of Métis heritage species. The wildlife park is home to rare white bison, wood bison, plains bison, elk, and Percheron horses.

    The bison, or “bufloo” in Michif, the language of the Métis, last roamed these hills in 1865. The historical relationship between the Métis people and bison stems from the bison hunt that brought thousands of Métis people together each spring and fall. Through the gathering of these large communities, the Métis Nation took shape with the development of their own laws, democratic, and judicial systems.

    Experience includes:

    • A 1.5 – 2 hour guided tour with transportation
    • An educational experience highlighting the significance of these heritage species to the Métis people
    • The opportunity to enter the paddocks alongside the animals for an intimate view of the animals

    The exploration of the Métis people’s connection with the land is an essential element of understanding traditional Métis life. This tour is more than an opportunity to see rare heritage species up-close. The Visions, Hopes and Dreams Wildlife Park tour is a cultural and historical tour paired with a legendary wildlife experience.

    Tales from the Trapline Experience

    Tales from the Trapline is a 3-hour immersive Indigenous experience that explores Métis traditional winter activities and skills on a historic Métis river lot farm.

    Strap on a set of snowshoes, set a snare, build a survival shelter, and learn a traditional art as you create your own unique and beautiful keepsake.

    This experience is led by a Métis guide and will provide participants with an opportunity to explore the cultural significance of life on the land and the traditional Métis way of life.

    • A 3-hour guided experience
    • Snowshoeing on a traditional Métis river lot, overlooking the North Saskatchewan River (Snowshoes included)
    • Learning and practicing traditional Métis hunting and gathering practices
    • Traditional art workshop

The stories of our food harvesting and preparation tell a lot about who we are as a people, what we value, and how our traditions have shaped us. Métis people are proudly resilient, entrepreneurial, and connected to the land.

    The culinary experience at Métis Crossing is has been created to share our distinct Indigenous story through your tastebuds. We plan to grow and harvest many ingredients from our own land and are committed to procuring the highest quality ingredients in the most sustainable manner possible. This commitment is what has led us to grow our own food forest and build local procurement agreements. Bison, saskatoons, trout, raspberries – like our experiential programs, our meals change with the seasons and what nature has to share with us.

    The Lodge at Métis Crossing features a main-floor Bistro to keep your spirit fueled as you explore our history, relax, and reconnect. The Bistro is beautifully built with wood detailing and provides our guests with snacks, boxed lunches, coffee, and refreshments. The Bistro includes tables to gather around, seating by the rock fireplace and direct access to our riverfront patio.

    The Métis Crossing Lounge

    The second-floor Lounge at The Lodge at Métis Crossing offers guests spectacular views of the North Saskatchewan River or a seat next to our two-story rock fireplace. The lounge offers guests refreshments and dining options just steps away from your room. After a long day out exploring the land, the lounge is the place to be. Join your friends and family in our stunning lounge, relax, reconnect, and take in the views as the sun sets across this land steeped in history.

    Notes:

    1. Snowshoes rental are included in the rate of the package and will be available for guests during self explorations times.
    2. Alcoholic beverages are not included in the rate of the package. They can be purchased separately.
    3. An additional youth can be added to the package price at a total of $75.00 +GST.
    4. General Admission to the site is included.
    5. It is our policy to cancel all outdoor activities and tours if the temperature drops below -20 Celsius.
    6. This package does not include experiences or meals on day 1 of arrival. The 2nd day will include 3 meals and two signature experiences. There will be continental breakfast served on the third day before departure.
